So Wednesday I did the "Take me exercise challenge" and was uber pissed off at how tough it was for me and I was going pretty friggin' slow. I wasn't really feeling up to working out to begin with and was close to bailing but knew that I would only be mad at myself the rest of the night and the next day if I didn't workout. The exercise challenge is essentially a combo exercise consisting of 2 jump lunges to plank to a side walking pushup to a burpee. Repeat for max reps for 10 minutes. UGH!
Thursday Dan decided to take a LOW (lack of work) offer from work which meant I got to spend a weekday night with my husband!!!! Like, whoa! He had already worked out earlier in the day so I did his same workout (he makes up his own intervals cuz he's smart) and just cut the weight down. The workout consisted of:
5 rounds-10 reps each exercise-NO RESTING
-1/2 Burpee w/Sandbag overhead press (no jumping portion-hence the 1/2)
-2 handed Kettlebell swing
-Tricep Dips (Dan used the Dip station, I have to do the girl version and put my hands on the edge of a chair
-Curls (I used 8 lb weights)
-Tricep Extensions (I used 6 lb sandbags)
-Knee hugs
Dan's time-22.12. My time-24.14
Per usual, the interval was tough but I managed to get through it. I was struggling after the first set of the modified burpee/sandbag overhead press. I think the hardest part was doing a pushup on my knuckles vs. palms, on a 25 lb sandbag with an uneven surface. I think I was already having to drop to my knees in the middle of the 2nd set. Usually pushups are a strongpoint for me. I'll need to work on doing pushups on my knuckles so I don't struggle so much next time. My triceps were EXHAUSTED by the 4th round. After 4 tricep extensions on the last set I had to switch to only 1 6lb sandbag ball and eeked out another 10. Dan's encouragement definitely helped me through parts of the workout.
I'll be doing another interval workout this evening. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my cramps will chill out so I'm not having to deal with them while I work out (like last night). My period always wrecks my groove the first few days. Having ovaries is for the birds.
P.S. Does my cheek look that weird in person? I hope it's just the shadow in the photo.

YAY for Dan taking a night off. =) He should do that more often.
Your workout sounds pretty tough. I'm really impressed with your time and having Dan there to push you. Do you have push up bars? or is that part of the workout to push up on your knuckles?
Also it's the shadow under your cheek. your cheeks look fine in person =)
no pushup bars. there are rubber handles on the top of the sandbag so when you are holding the handles, knuckles are facing down, on an unlevel surface since the sandbags shift throughout the workout. it was hard, so much harder than a pushup with palms on the floor.
