geesh, what is it with me and not keeping this updated. even better question, why did i have 3 off days last week?! ughhhhhh
so Tuesday, Thursday and Friday were off days.
Wednesday I did the Booty Meets Abs workout which was much harder than I thought it would be, I guess because it's 6 rounds of the 3 exercises. The one leg elevated pushups were pretty tough towards the end.
Saturday I went and ran (mostly ran, had to walk some) a trail at Mitchell Memorial Forest. This was my first time running a trail. I have been pretty hesitant since I'm not the most coordinated. I keep worrying that I'll roll my ankle then be out of commission for a while. I only almost tripped over a tree root once. We ran in the am which I'm not a fan of but it was a must in order to beat some of the heat/humidity. I'm pretty sure the dew point was around 70 something, so it's not like the air wasn't already thick at 9am. There were points where my breathing was so shallow, combined with my sinus congestion it sounded like there was some sort of monster right behind me breathing in my ear. I wish I would have been able to run more of it than I did but at the same time, I did better than I thought I would. It was a 3.9 mile trail (some of it gets technical with switchbacks/rocks/roots) and my time was 45 minutes 52 seconds I think. Something to beat next time I go out. I felt bad because I was slowing Dan down a ton. I told him to just keep running at whatever pace and I would see him at the end but I think he was worried that I may trip and be out there by myself. It was sweet of him to wait and not make me feel like I was a bummer. He was very supportive and kept me going. At one point I thought I really messed up my left knee, which has given me problems off and on since 7th grade. I'm guessing the downhill impact was putting too much stress on it. I also need to get better trail running shoes if I'm going to do this often. I wore the Adidas I bought when we were in Vegas, which are not comfortable to run in compared to my Nike Frees.
Sunday I did a 300 interval workout with Dan. This consisted of:
20 reps X 3 rounds of:
-commando pushups
-hip thrust
-dips (i can't do body weight dips so I did mine on the side of the table)
-side to side jump squats (love these-dan can't do them so he just did side squats)
-reverse pull ups (on the dip station)
Doing 20 reps of each exercise was tough. I think it was the dips that wore me out the most. My triceps haven't been the strongest in probably the past 2 years. I struggled big time through the 2nd round so I broke the last one into 2 rounds of 10 reps. Afterwards we both did some ab exercises.
Again, no idea why I slacked so much last week. I need to get with the program and stick with it this week.
